The Last Outfit of Summer 2020

When September rolls around and Labor Day Weekend is behind us, it truly feels like the beginning of the fall season. Granted, here in Phoenix it doesn’t actually begin to feel like fall until late October, but a girl can dream. September always marks the beginning of my favorite season and my favorite things like PSLs (who else is a fan of Pumpkin Spice Lattes?), autumn scented candles, and homemade butternut squash soup. These alone really help get me in a fall state of mind even if the 115-degree weather says otherwise. While I may not be pulling out my cozy sweaters and jeans for several more weeks (or months!), I’m so ready to start planning some fall content on the blog! But before I do, I’m giving summer a proper send-off with this smocked crop top and my favorite pair of cutoff denim shorts that got me through another long, hot summer. Side note: that will always be one of my fave Keith Urban songs. If you know you know! #iykyk

I found this crop top online just in time for our summer staycation last month and there are so many sweet details that I love about it! The ruffle along the hem, the buttons on the front, and of course the adjustable shoulder straps that tie into perfect bows. It literally checks all the boxes! Even though this top has super summery vibes, I’m not quite ready to put it away until next spring/summer, so I definitely plan to wear it into fall and style it accordingly with a chunky cardigan, a pair of high-waisted jeans (or even a skirt) and ankle boots.

My summer staples that I really loved wearing for the past 4-5 months were these shorts, sandals, and of course, this straw bag that you’ve seen me wear countless times. I’ve continued to learn that a few key, seasonal pieces are essential to any wardrobe and they don’t have to break the bank. All 3 of these items are $75 or less and I’ve certainly gotten good use out of them this summer, and will continue to next year! While this summer certainly wasn’t what I was expecting and didn’t involve any travel plans like we had originally intended, I still enjoyed it and tried to make the most of it. I’m ready to welcome fall and all that it will bring! What was one of your favorite summer memories and what are you most looking forward to during fall?
