How To Create A Fall Capsule Wardrobe

A couple of years ago on the blog I did a Fall Capsule Wardrobe series where I bought several pieces from Target and styled them in various ways to create multiple outfit options. I had so much fun mixing and matching everything to show the versatility and beauty of a capsule wardrobe that I decided to do it again this year! This time I’m using some pieces from Abercrombie and Nordstrom, two of my favorite stores, to bring you tons of cute fall outfit inspiration! I’m going to continue to share more outfit ideas in the coming weeks with the pieces I’m using to create my capsule wardrobe this fall, but today, I’m starting out with just these 3 simple items: this oversized sweater, my favorite pair of skinny jeans, and the most amazing pair of winter boots. (Side note: the beanie is optional but I couldn’t resist the cozy vibes it really gives this look 😍)

As you guys know, Abercrombie has become one of my favorite stores (for the 2nd time) in recent years, and I especially love their fall/winter clothing. They always have the best neutral colors, the coziest sweaters, and classic silhouettes that you can wear for years to come. Plus, their price point is very reasonable in my opinion, and they’re always doing some sort of sale or promo event so I rarely ever buy anything full price. When I spotted this sweater I thought it would be such a great seasonal staple to pair with denim, leggings, or even a skirt!

The key to building out a capsule wardrobe is (wanna take a guess?) neutral tones! And mixing in some subtle patterns that play well off of each other like maybe stripes or plaid. The whole goal of a capsule wardrobe is being able to mix and match your tops, layering pieces, bottoms, and shoes together so that they all pair back to one another and you instantly (and effortlessly) have multiple outfit options right at your finger tips. Some of the other items I'm going to be using to build out my capsule wardrobe this fall are a pair of faux leather leggings, a classic pair of sneakers, and some essential layering pieces like a shacket and a denim jacket. It’s true what they say that you can’t go wrong with the classics! I’m excited to share more of my outfit ideas so stay tuned! xo
