Finding Joy While Feeling Stuck
Last week I did a discussion post about my thoughts on blogging and social media, and I got a great response from you guys which made me so happy! I'm more of an introverted person, so it can be challenging to open up about certain topics not knowing what kind of response I'll get. But after all, this blog is all about being open and generating communication about different things and building a community! You guys gave me the courage to continue having open discussions, which helped inspire today's post.
Have you ever felt stuck? It could be at your job, your current location you live in, or maybe just in a particular season of life. I've been having conversations about this lately with some of my friends, including my hubby, and how it can be really easy to feel stuck in a place that you don't want to be in, and not sure what to do to get out of it. Freddy and I experienced some of these feelings while we were living in Austin, TX. We were unhappy with where we were living and our jobs at the time. Even though we kept trying to apply elsewhere or get transfers, nothing seemed to be working and we were getting frustrated.
You've heard the phrase "hindsight is 20/20" and it definitely resonates with me. Now that we are out of that situation, I realize now that God was teaching us about patience and trusting in His timing. It can be hard to do so in the moment when you're feeling anxious and want answers about what your next step will be, but when we trust God, He will provide and answer our prayers! If I'm being honest, some of these feelings still linger with me even now. With mine and Freddy's work schedule being so vastly different (getting 1-2 days off a month together) it can be really disheartening not having a lot of time to spend with your best friend! I'll start to wish that we could just quit our jobs and travel and explore this beautiful world that God created. While that would be amazing (#goals) I know that's not what is in store for us right now. I still trust that He has a plan (one better than I can imagine) and that He's in control!
I still have dreams though that one day we will be able to pursue our dreams! We have deep desires in our hearts to travel--the only country we've been to outside the U.S. is Canada (which is lovely) but we have SO many places on our bucket list! Our goal is to one day have jobs that allow us to work from anywhere in the world, so that we can see all of these beautiful countries we'd love to visit. I guess what I'm trying to say, is don't give up on your dreams! If you're feeling a little stuck right now, have faith and patience. God has planted those desires in your heart for a reason and He wants to help you achieve your goals! I've listed some of my favorite verses below that help encourage me, and I hope they help you too! xo
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." -Psalm 37:4
"You must always pray and never lose heart." -Luke 18:1
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up." -Galatians 6:9
